always a good choice. Its beautiful landscapes, architecture and history, make this country the preferred option for those who are looking for some busy holidays in the old continent. But France is much more than that, and when it comes to music, french people have the finest taste.
Over the last weekend, EDMTunes had the chance to be a part of Main Square Festival, an eclectic music event taking place at an ancient citadel in Arras, right in the north of France. During 3 days in july, this usually small town gets flooded with visitors from different parts of the world (mostly from Belgium, we must admit), and Live Nation takes care of the rest: the best artists (Depeche Mode and Jamiroquai among others), an incredible soundystem and more than 120,000 people sharing the same vibes.
Techno and Electronic Dance Music had a preferred timeslot during Main Square, closing each night with our favorite Euro-stars. Paul Kalkbrenner, Boris Brejcha and Justice, were there to wrap up each day with remarkable performances. We wanted to give each show a rating, but since the 3 of them were flawless, here you have a synthesis of each one instead:
Not even 2 months ago, Paul released his latest production, Parts of Life. During his hour an a half set, the Berlin based techno giant played almost every tune from his newest album, as well as some of his now classics such as Sky and Sand and Feed your Head.
2. Boris Brejcha
What can we say about Boris? His set was totally epic. Tracks like Gravity made the crowd feel weightless in their spots, and when he played Purple Noise it was definitely the highlight of the night.
Another spotless set from the french duo. They started off with Safe and Sound, and slowly took everyone on a journey through the universe. Other hits such as Stress and Genesis were part of their exquisite musical repertoire.
Main Square Festival was a total blast. And now that France won the World Cup, we are eager to see what the next edition of this festival will be, from July 5 to July 7 2019. Visit their Facebook and official website for more info!

With three stages pumping heavy sound for eight hours, the groove was nonstop from noon to 9pm both inside and outside. Marbs, Mikey Lion, Andreas Henneberg, Porky and Lee Reynolds kept the booty-bumping house music beats on the outdoor stage flowing into the sunset with a crowd that never wavered. Local legends like Rachel Torro and Benjamin K kept the inside’s main stage high-energy as well – no matter where you turned, you were able to find a beat that would keep you moving.
Walking away from the event after hours of nonstop dancing left us fulfilled and thrilled to dive into the rest of the week – a similar feeling to one that we found ourselves loving after leaving Desert Hearts Festival. This taste of the fantastic culture and top-notch music that the festival has regularly given SoCal year after year was a much-needed home base for a day for all of our Northern California Desert Hearts fans. We can only hope the crew will be back again soon!
e bit over 5 weeks, the beautiful landmarks of De Schorre, in Belgium, will welcome once again people from all over the world and host the most anticipated weekend of the year: Tomorrowland. For this edition, the theme ‘The Story of Planaxis‘ has been kept almost a secret up until today. Now, a 2-minute video has been posted on the official website. You can watch the video below.
For what we can see, there’s a painting of a lighthouse by the sea on the wall that slowly starts to drip some water. If we look a little closer, we get to see that the ocean starts to move… a sailor on a boat looks for some coordinates on a map, just to discover that he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be. Under these crystal-clear waters lies a treasure that is barely known to human kind, a magical world full of wonders and beauty. Are YOU ready for a new chapter in the history of Tomorrowland?
The life under the sea seems to be this years’ concept, and we are sure that Tomorrowland will definitely exceed our expectations in regards to stage production. Fans are already starting to receive their treasure cases and the dream starts to become a reality. With an impressive lineup that features the names of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Carl Cox, Solomun and pretty much every DJ you could ever hope for, The Story of Planaxis will be a weekend to let yourself go and embrace your love for music and everyone around you. Never forget: Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever.
